Welcome to the nightmare of my summer. Here in Indiana for some reason the lawns have all gone to weeds. Brad and I did not want our lawn to be a weed patch. So we came up with a plan in May. We would power rake and then overseed the lawn, you may remember this from an earlier post. After a full back breaking Saturday of power raking we were hopeful for a transformation.

The next week we overseeded and I began the two a day watering to get those little sprouts to grow. Unfortunately the storm of the century hit and washed away all of our hard work. Most of the seeds were washed away. Along with my spirits. Time passed and passed, more weeds grew. So I took out the Round Up and killed about 1/3 of our weedy lawn. Then more time passed. And my energy was waningbeing 7 months pregnant. Brad was busy studying for the boards, and had little free time to help in the yard. More weeds grew. It was time to come up with another plan because we were in way over our heads. Our plan was called Operation Save Our Yard. We called some of our good friends and begged them for help. I killed the last weeds again and then on Saturday July 26th we roughed up the soil, laid down new seed, and covered it with peat moss.
You'll notice that there was no grass in many parts of our yard. Leo asked me if I dumped bleach all over the yard. Check out our incredible crew.

Okay, so I stayed inside and made breakfast and entertained the kids. Thanks for your help guys.
Then we watered
And the sprouts began to grow.
We are happy to announce that we have grass again. It is a little sparse, and a few places have not worked out at all, but for the most part we feel so grateful to have a lawn again. We owe it all to our friends we couldn't have done it without you.
