Bienvenido a Miami

On our anniversary I surprised Brittany with a "Babymoon" trip. I handed her an itinerary for a trip to the beach. I took a week off of school with the intent of studying on the beach (only marginally effective), and she took a week off work so we could go to the beach one last time before little Anna arrives. We both love going to the beach and it reminded us of the trips we have taken together. We went to Miami Beach, FL and stayed in a nice hotel a block from the beach. We had a relaxing time reading , sunning, swimming, eating all kinds of Latin-American cuisine, and mingling with the diverse group of Latinos that live there. We met people from all over and they were all warm and friendly. We would just strike up a conversation with some old ladies in a Juice Bar/Sandwicheria shop, or chat with the Argentine florist, or speak to the Dutch that were there on Holiday. We had a great time and we enjoyed really nice weather.Here we are our first day at the beach. Me with my National Boards Exam review book, and Brittany with a novel. We were determined not to get burned, so we applied 50 spf sunblock that was "waterproof" and "sweatproof." Turns out it really wasn't and we ended up getting badly sun burned. The next couple of days we had to lie low and stay out of the sun. We bought a beach umbrella and only went to the beach when the sun wasn't hot and high in the sky.

Ever hear of the phrase "belt and suspenders?" Brittany one-upped it. She wore a rash guard, hat, sunblock, and stayed in the shade of the umbrella after she had been burned that first day.

I found an Argentine bakery that made all of the delicious goodies I grew accustomed to while I lived in Argentina. Me encantan las palmeritas! Que riquisima!

This is us on our last night in Miami. We were dressed up to go out to dinner at an Argentine steakhouse.


This is the "parrillada para dos." Which roughly translates to "barbeque for two." They gave us a sampling of several different cuts of beef and chorizo. It was very delicious and reminded me of the good ol' days in Argentina. Argentine beef is delicious! There is just something about grass fed, non-hormone injected beef that has been grilled to perfection over real wood coals. I love it. We liked the al fresco dining option in the mini-jungle patio the seated us in.

We had to get some Key Lime pie, since we were so close to the Keys. It was delicious. We were stuffed, but we made room for this delectable dulce.

Italian Fest

We went to Italian Fest here in Indianapolis. It was quite the spectacle. There were tons of people and we had a good time sampling the different cuisine of the Italian persuasion.
